Nellie was born on this day, February 22, 1899 but died two days later. I am reminded of a headboard in the Calico Ghost Town cemetery:
“Since I am so soon done for, I wonder what I was begun for.”

In Anaheim, where I grew up, there is the old cemetery that my sister and I found one old Victorian marker reading, “Here lies our dear baby dead, please do not stand upon her head.” I will never forget that!
